Tech Tip – Outlook Edition: Cell-Friendly Call-In Numbers
If you’re anything like me, you are often driving in your
car when you need to call into a meeting. Ever notice how annoying/difficult it
is to drive, dial into a meeting, and then find the meeting participant code
and dial it in?
Here’s a solution! If you type the phone number, then add two commas after the
phone number, then put the participant number and pound sign, when you click
the link from your cell phone it will dial the number, wait for a few seconds,
then continue to dial the participant number and hit pound. (note this
must be consistent with the call-in service you are using, but I believe most
major services work like this; i.e. Verizon)
Regardless of whether you created the meeting or you are a
recipient of the meeting invite, you can still edit the meeting invite, go into
the “Location” of the meeting, and type in the call-in and participant code for
the meeting. If you do this from your computer ahead of time, when the time
comes to call in and you’re driving or just have your phone but no computer
handy, your future self will be very thankful.
